Reupholster Your Old Lounge Furniture

In all my years in the upholstery trade, I have not had anybody tell me that they have regretted getting me to recover their lounge furniture. I have had many tell me that they have regretted getting rid of their old lounge. And they have regretted it even more with the new lounge suite that they purchased.

When really at the end of the day, the affordable import will always be cheaper than recovering your old lounge. That is something that only you’ll be able to answer in the end. But, in the meantime, let me give you some ideas to think about.

1 Style: Only you can decide on this one. However, if you want the current style of your existing lounge, then this may be a better choice. Now, with design, I’m referring to the form and [once was maybe] relaxation. The other issue is, does this fit in your area OK. Does it appeal to all of your family members [ two and four-legged family members]? By this, I’m talking to the usage. Is it to be used as an all-around purpose lounge, versus possibly say a formal lounge. Is it likely to become dirty or perhaps even stained from everyday use?

2 Comfort: I briefly touched on this in the preceding paragraph. The majority of the older lounges were usually of a high back style. Today they appear to be a whole lot smaller in size. This also could be to do with how a good deal of homes are a lot smaller. They’re also mainly low backed, thus making it very hard to fall asleep on. This really just reminded me of a couple of incidents in this regard. I believe it has happened twice now. The woman of the house has rung me after a few weeks of the lounge been returned from getting recovered. She’s gone onto complain that the”man” of the home keeps falling asleep in his chair now! Not sure how to change this habit, but good to know it’s comfortable.

The other issue is that a good deal of these new lounges are a lot lower to the ground today. This can make it difficult to get up from at times.

You Have to remember that even though your old current couch looks and feels a bit ordinary, which is fixed in its own makeover

3 Frame: If only you could find the way these imported lounge suits were created The frames are so cheaply put together today. I stopped asking them to get somebody else to do their work as I believed I was moving into a depression manner by trying to fix this work.

You will simply not beat a fantastic solid wood frame lounge.

4 Upholstery Fabric: This is generally where the female of the house becomes excited, the man just curls up into his shell. There’s an absolutely massive assortment of great designer inspired upholstery fabrics available on the market today. And if a fabric isn’t your thing, then there are some terrific vinyl and leathers to choose from. Every of the materials has a place on couch furniture. It again comes back to what the usage of your lounge will be. Vinyl and leathers are extremely practical to look after if you’ve got a messy family. All you need to do is just wipe it clean after the spillage has occurred. The downside is that it may become hot and sticky to sit in the summertime, though you could always just throw a rug over it. Fabrics are amazing for comfort but not so good if you’ve got young kids or heterosexual family members who like to snuggle up to you.

Whilst there are several stunning linen and cotton upholstery fabrics available, these will not survive in high humidity or heavy usage areas.

At the end of the day, only you can decide which is the better choice for your circumstances. Anything you do though, make sure to compare the two options fairly. One way is to receive a price to recoup your lounge. Then visit your local furniture store and find a lounge which you like. Then ask them how much it’ll cost in precisely the same upholstery fabric you chose to recover your lounge in. You might be surprised by the cost difference.

1 other thing, whilst you might think that you can save yourself some money by buying your upholstery fabric on the internet, it may have no warranty. Your regional experienced upholsterer can best advise as what is best suited to your situation.
